STEM Challenges:

Room 2 has been completing different STEM challenges as part of our Topic Study. The children can tell you what STEM stands for as well. We started our new learning off with a whanau fun day, where our families came to school and completed various challenges.

Last week the students in Room 2 had to build the strongest tower out of plastic cups and wooden blocks. We had 10 minutes to plan and build our towers.

We had to work together as a team. Miss Poi wanted to test to tower the towers by throwing manaaki balls at them We thought this was a great idea - but decided to bust them ourselves.

Destroying the towers!

The winner:
The strongest tower designed by the boys: Gallace, Kauri and Brooklyn

  1. Dear Room 2,
It looks like you have been really busy leaning about science and technology. And what a good test to see who had the strongest tower. Well done Gallace, Kauri and Brooklyn!

  2. Hi Room 2
My name is Tu Pakari. I am in Room 1 at Kawakawa Primary.
I like that your whanau came in and did challenges with you.
What did your whanau find tricky?
    Have a good day?

Thank you for your positive, thoughtful, helpful comments:
Positive - something done well
Thoughtful - a sentence to let us know you actually read/watched or listened to what they had to say
Helpful - give some ideas for next time or ask a question you want to know more about

We are learners at Elgin School. This is a place where we will be able share our learning with you. Please note....some work won't be edited - just our first drafts, so there may be some surface errors. We would love your feedback, comments, thoughts and ideas.

Ngā mihi nui,
Room 2 @Elgin School.
