Marae Noho

Marae Noho

Last week Elgin school stayed the night at Muriwai Marae. Every year our school visits and learns about the different Marae around our region. Muriwai is special to us because we are friends with the children from Muriwai school. We have also learnt about Te Kuri a Paoa (Young Nicks Head) which is part of Muriwai. Here are a few stories from Room 2 tamariki about their stay at the marae.

  1. Bula Room 2,
WOW! How lucky you got to have a sleep over at your marae. It sounds like you had so much fun. We were discussing where your marae that you stayed at is and some of us all the way up in Kawakawa have visited this marae too.We think its cool that you got to do fun activities like art, puzzles and knitting. We haven't had a overnight trip this year we have them every second year. Did you learn about the history of the marae or meet any kaumatua?
Have an awesome weekend from Room 1 @ Kawakawa Primary School.

Thank you for your positive, thoughtful, helpful comments:
Positive - something done well
Thoughtful - a sentence to let us know you actually read/watched or listened to what they had to say
Helpful - give some ideas for next time or ask a question you want to know more about

We are learners at Elgin School. This is a place where we will be able share our learning with you. Please note....some work won't be edited - just our first drafts, so there may be some surface errors. We would love your feedback, comments, thoughts and ideas.

Ngā mihi nui,
Room 2 @Elgin School.
