Matariki stories

Last week we started looking at different Myths and Legends about Matariki. We had a go at retelling the stories in our own words. Here are a few of our stories...

Maui Slowed down the Sun. Tama - nui-te- ra, the sun, was angry and went to hide. Without the sun it got cold. It was winter. The people missed the sun. Matariki sang songs and brought back the sun. Everyone was happy. Matariki is a time when we remember and celebrate. By Swyft

Maui and his  brothers slowed Tama nui te ra .The sun was hurt and hid away. It was cold and all the people were sad. Matariki and her sisters sang songs and brought Tama nui te ra back. By Waiariki

Thank you for your positive, thoughtful, helpful comments:
Positive - something done well
Thoughtful - a sentence to let us know you actually read/watched or listened to what they had to say
Helpful - give some ideas for next time or ask a question you want to know more about

We are learners at Elgin School. This is a place where we will be able share our learning with you. Please note....some work won't be edited - just our first drafts, so there may be some surface errors. We would love your feedback, comments, thoughts and ideas.

Ngā mihi nui,
Room 2 @Elgin School.
