Writing by Ataahua and Kowhai

Yoga with Koka Wendy

Today we did yoga with our new yoga teacher. Her name is Koka Wendy. She was fun to learn from. I liked laying back and relaxing. We had to close our eyes and focus on our breathing. She was really nice and she showed manaaki.By Ataahua Williams (Year 2)

In the afternoon  Koka Wendy came to show us some yoga. She taught us some things like the mouse pose and the rolling panda. She showed us how to be calm and relaxed. We sang Putiputi to Koka Wendy and all the Elgin kids said “Bye Koka Wendy!” By Kowhai Moa - Wharehinga (Year 3)

I made a dinosaur at school and I built it on my own. I was happy and I liked my
dinosaur. And I made the claws and I made the head. I made the tail and I
made the spikes. I made the mouth all by myself.

Museum Visit

Museum Visit

Yesterday Room 2 visited the Museum. We were learning about the land before people arrived in Gisborne. We had to put birds, and creatures like bugs and insects in the right place on the landscape board. I had a brown moth. I liked searching for the taonga around the museum too. By Bruce

Yesterday we went to the museum. We had to wait outside because we were too early. We got to climb the trees, and I watched the water fountain. We also played tag. We went out the back and had oranges and a drink of water. My favourite part of our visit was searching for the taonga around the museum because I like exploring. By Dre

Winter Poems

Winter Poems

This week we created Winter Poems with Koka Amie. We had to think about the words we wanted to use, then drag and drop them into our poem. It was a little tricky. Next we had to use Loom to record ourselves reading our poems.

Winter Slippers

Winter Slippers

My Oma (nan) knitted our class slippers so we can have warm feet when we're at school. She made 50 pairs, so my class got half and my sisters class got the other half. She has knitted slippers for other schools in Whakatane and Napier as well. I think my Oma is very kind because she makes slippers for other kids and wants them to be happy. Cyber Smart Lessons: Week 9

Practicing our new skills...

We are super lucky, and received 10 new Chromebooks - now everyone gets to work on a device at the same time. So for manaaki today, we used the Chromebooks and used voice typing to record "how we show manaaki".  We also found pictures of the beach (using the explore tool) and talked about ourselves and the beach. Check out some of our mahi.

Manaaki for Christchurch

Be Kind

Today Room 2 wrote manaaki messages around our school, to spread kindness and show our aroha for the people of Christchurch. Lots of people walking through our school thought the messages were lovely. It was nice to see people smile and appreciate our messages. Kia Kaha Christchurch.

Introducing Room 2 2019

Meet Room 2 2019

This term Room 2 are part of the Tuhi Mai Tuhi Atu program where we are paired up another class from another town - and we visit and comment on each others blogs. Our blog buddies are Room 7 from Glen Taylor School in Auckland. Last week we had a look at their class blog and left a comment. We also used Google Earth to have a look at their school, it looks much bigger then our kura. This week it is their turn to look at our class blog and leave a comment, so we thought we would create a slide about us and the things we like about our school!
